Thunderbird Park


Home to many UBC Varsity programs and community athletic groups, Thunderbird Park has recently undergone a major overhaul that includes the construction of two new FieldTurf soccer pitches, a brand new baseball stadium, and a new Track and Field Facility, as well as upgrades to the existing grass and artificial fields.

Artificial Turf Fields

Ken Woods and Warren Field

  • Home of the UBC Thunderbirds Varsity Soccer program
  • FieldTurf surface for natural grass feel and all-weather use
  • Seating Capacity of 150 in adjacent bleachers
  • Scoreboard (Ken Woods Field only)
  • 4 full size frames and nets for split field play
  • Covered player benches
  • Dimensions Ken Woods: 120 yards long by 75 yards wide
  • Dimensions Warren: 110 yards long by 71 yards wide

Tourmaline West Baseball Stadium

  • The first artificial baseball field in British Columbia
  • Home of the UBC Thunderbirds Varsity & Junior Varsity Baseball Teams, and the UBC Thunder PBL Program
  • AstroTurf surface for natural grass feel and all-weather use
  • 4 AstroTurf Bullpens
  • Portable on-field mounds and fence that allow for field conversions to softball, slo-pitch or little league
  • Outfield available for flag football, softball, and ultimate frisbee rentals
  • Dimensions: RF – 98.1 (322 feet); CF – 113.1m (371 feet); LF – 98.1m (322 feet)

Wright Field

  • Home of the UBC Thunderbirds Varsity Field Hockey program
  • Artificial turf surface
  • Two sheltered bench areas and scoreboard
  • Dimensions Wright: 100 yards long by 60 yards wide

Grass Fields

Wolfson East, Buck and Lord Fields

  • Home of the UBC Thunderbirds Varsity Rugby program; used for recreational ultimate and soccer
  • Four full size Rugby pitches, with uprights
  • Fully irrigated natural grass field
  • Change room and washroom facilities in the UBC Rugby Pavilion
  • Dimensions Wolfson East, Lord & Buck: 120m long by 68m wide

Rashpal Dhillon Track & Field Oval

  • Home of the UBC Varsity Track Field team
  • 8 lane, 400m synthetic polyurethane running track
  • 300 seat grandstand; long jump pit, steeple chase & shotput area
  • Other equipment available upon request (hurdles, high jump, etc.)
  • Dimensions Dhillon Field: 115 yards long by 71 yards wide
